CALLING ARTISTS, DESIGNERS,...

Veaux needs some new promotional pieces for 2010/2011 so we are asking all artists to submit something special for us.

Take our meat logo/font and incorporate into an art piece or do something different with it. We want to mix it up…

We’ll pick the ones we like and use them while promoting you as an artist in any materials we send out.

Frere Independent announces its 7th edition of PooL Art Fair at the famous landmark Gershwin
Hotel March 5-7th, during Armory week. Continuing its unique tradition of supporting the Inde-
pendent in the arts, the PooL Art Fair is comprised of artists and art collectives, curators, and
galleries from Iceland, Israel, France, London, Hawaii, Guadeloupe, Martinique, New York …

Inspired by Courbet’s famous “Salon des Independents,” the PooL Art Fair, “Salon des Refuges,”
serves a platform for emerging and underrepresented artists to have a voice. PooL is the suc-
cessor to the acclaimed New York Independent Art Fair (November 2000), a groundbreaking
exhibition that attracted thousands of US and international visitors.

The simple, modest approach of the PooL Art Fair offers an exciting alternative to the “art fair”
experience for dealers and collectors, as well as the general public. Each artist, or group of art-
ists, will use the hotel’s guest room as exhibition space, creating an intimate setting. Hence, the
fair will serve as an invaluable resource for the artistic community and the general public. The
purpose of the PooL Art Fair is to provide the public with access to art, while encouraging them
to support and meet these emerging artists. Frère Independent is a not-for-profit art organiza-
tion that provides new avenues of dissemination and widespread visibility to emerging and in-
dependent artists who do not currently have gallery representation in New York.

“They're Not Who You Think ...

On Friday February 26th from 6-9pm Veaux and Playspace Projects collaborate on the second show titled:
“They’re Not Who You Think They Are!” featuring work by Asya Geisberg, Gregory de la Haba, Elizabeth Hendler, Lindsay Mound and Kaeko Shabana.

Please join us at Asya Geisberg’s studio at 526 West 26th #1017 in Chelsea, NY, NY

Part of a yearlong series of single-evening salon events in artist’s studios. These were originally envisioned as a response to the current trend in pop-up exhibitions in vacant spaces, which typically generate interest only during the reception. This is because institutions such as galleries and museums impose a certain cultural authorities that pop-up spaces do not. Yet another sort of space inhabits the art community which also possesses cultural authority: the artist’s studio.
